Dear Vince,

I’m writing you this letter to inform you of the incredible customer service I received from your employee named Pete (I didn’t get his last name). Last night (07/06/11) while entering the Walgreens parking lot at Yosemite and Dry Creek, I hit a large pot hole and it flattened my front drivers side tire immediately. I was able to get the car parked but was a bit nervous as to what to do. I live in Hunters Hill and had purchased tires from your shop before so I walked over in the hopes you would have the right size tire for my car. I poked my head in the garage and asked if they were still open, but it was a little bit past 6:00 pm. Pete said they were closed but asked if he could help me. I told him my story and he went over and above what is generally expected. Pete walked over to Walgreens, in the rain, and helped me get the car to the shop where he luckily had a tire that was perfect. Twenty minutes later I was driving home.

Helping me out after hours was so generous and kind. It’s hard to express how much I appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi Darrell and Al,

A while ago my mom referred me to Pride because she knew and respected Al from the Cash group. Since then I’ve received great customer service during the several times I’ve been into the shop. However, I wanted to send a special thanks for the customer service I received when my car was at another shop. Yes, I know that’s unusual, but my car broke down away from home and your shops and I had to tow it to a totally unfamiliar shop. I received some, what I felt, odd information from that shop and called Pride for help. Darrell spent several minutes talking with me and ultimately said go ahead and give them the OK to run one hour of diagnostics on the car, if they can’t find it in that time something is wrong. Well that was great advice. The shop found the problem quickly and repaired it for a reasonable cost. I wanted to thank Darrell and Pride for helping to ease my mind in a very challenging situation. This certainly was way above and beyond customer service and I am grateful! I will always remember that and I’ll be referring Pride out whenever I’m asked. Thank you so much!

Pride Auto Care,

I wanted to write to let you know about the great service I received this week at your Parker location. I brought my 2005 Chevy Tahoe in because the dreaded “Service 4WD” light came on and it was acting up. I was told by Darrel Pridemore that he could fix the problem at a lower cost by replacing a part inside the “Encoder Motor”. He told me that usually the dealership will replace the entire motor but it is much more expensive to do that. I was initially very happy to hear that it could be fixed a cheaper way. As we all know, when something breaks on your car the first thing you do is worry about “How much is this going to cost me?” Anyways, I had the repairs done and picked up my car no problem.

The very next day the dreaded “Service 4WD” light came back on and my Tahoe began to malfunction again. I took it back to Pride Auto and was told that they would check it out again. As I waited for the call from “Tony” the Service Manager I couldn’t help but worry that I was about to be told that I was going to have to replace the entire “Encoder Motor” and I knew that this was a more expensive fix. When I got the call from “Tony” I could not believe what he told me. “Tony” told me that I did indeed need to replace the entire encoder motor, but what he said next surprised me the most. He told me that it should have been fixed this way the first time and that since they did not fix it right the first time there would be no additional charge to me. Pride Auto Care would fix the problem (replacing the encoder motor) and I would be on my way with NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

I have to tell you that I have never had this experience at a car repair shop before. I was very impressed that when a mistake was made they not only admitted they made a mistake, but they made it right at no cost to me.

Thank you for helping me find my “Neighborhood Mechanic”. I will recommend Pride Auto Care to everyone I know.

I've been getting all my car repairs and maintenance at Pride for several years, and I can't say enough good about them. They are utterly honest and straightforward -- will tell you exactly what you need and don't need, charge you fairly for what they do, and perform the work at the highest level of competence. Previous review on Yelp: Despite that my car needs MORE work done on it, I did have a good initial experience with these guys. The guys are very nice and helpful, scoped out my cars insides same day on a Saturday. Rates seem reasonable as well. They told me I need a bunch of parts replaced so my transmission stops leaking but were more than happy to oblige to "patch up" the problem until i get my tax refund and can actually afford to get the car fixed. Bottom line, no pressure-no BS. Will be back to these guys to get my car fixed once I have the cashflow!

Summer Car Care Tips

Engine and cooling system

First, if you're a Do-It-Yourselfer, get under the hood. Otherwise, visit your friendly automotive technician (i.e. Pride Auto Care).
Summer can worsen existing problems like pings, hard starts, sluggish performance or rough idling, since you’ll probably be driving more often. So make certain the engine is in peak condition. Check the cooling system, too. Coolant should be flushed and refilled every 2 years or so. Have your technician check your A/C system and make sure it’s up to speed and cooling properly.

Oil Change & Rotate the Tires

Check the owner's manual to see if your driving habits are considered to be "severe service" (most of us city drivers drive under ‘severe conditions’ by definition). This type of driving requires more frequent oil changes. Have the oil changed according to the owner’s manual, usually every 3-5,000 miles. For less wear and tear on older engines, there are excellent high mileage oils available that help with older engine ailments.
Most cars should get the tires rotated every 6,000 miles or so. Have the tech check your tires for abnormal wear and alignment or suspension issues. The costs are minimal and the benefits are huge…you’ll get the best mileage from your tires.

Four other “Go – Do’s” for your car

The battery, belts, hoses and air filters are other "must check" items. Any good shop (i.e. Pride Auto Care) can check these for just about nothing. These should be examined using a professional eye with professional equipment (i.e. Pride Auto Care). Belts and hoses (rubber compounds) wear out over time. Don’t want a “side-of-the-road” break down on nasty hot day do we? Replace dirty engine air and cabin air filters…let’s you and your car breathe and function better. Make sure the battery is holding a good charge and the charging system is working up to speed.

Exterior Concerns—Tires and Lights

Now for the outside of the vehicle: tires, lighting and wipers.

Both tire tread and tire pressure should be checked weekly. Lights should be inspected regularly. Check to see that bulbs are illuminated, and headlights are properly aimed. Finally, replace wiper blades every six months. Consider special snow blades if the weather dictates.

Emergencies

Even the most meticulously maintained vehicle can develop problems on the road, especially during hot, cold or any inclement weather. That's when it pays to be prepared for an emergency. Use all that big trunk space for something more than a spare tire (which, incidentally should be checked regularly for properly inflation).

Roadside Emergency Package:

Pack items that would be needed if you got stranded for a several hours or just for convenience:

A cell phone (with a car charger),
flashlight,
flares/emergency triangle/ribbon,
small tool kit,
bottled water,
non-perishable snacks,
needed medication,
washer fluid,
extra clothes,
light to medium jacket(s),
spare tire changing gear (Fix-a-flat but use it only in a pinch---that stuff is not good for wheels or techs to work with!), etc.

Winter items in summer? What?

Don’t forget to keep some of the “winter items” handy (you know Colorado…hot one minute, snow the next, especially if you travel through the mountains. These items include: ice scraper, windshield de-icer, whisk broom, blanket, extra clothes, candle/matches, small shovel, etc.

Gas Saving tips for your summer travel plans

Tire Pressure
Tire pressure & alignment are critical to safety and achieving your best fuel economy possible. Tires lose about 1 psi of air pressure per month. Keeping your tires at the proper pressure can improve your fuel economy, allowing your car to roll easier. Your proper air pressure is found in the owner’s manual or inside the driver’s door jamb, not on the side of the tire.

Clean Air
Changing a dirty air filter can notably improve your fuel economy and power. Have it checked with every oil change. Check your cabin air filter too (if equipped) for clean breathable air inside the car.

Octane
Are you buying higher octane gas than necessary? If you drive a computer-controlled vehicle (basically cars built after 1987) you may be able to get by with the lowest octane fuel. Check your owner’s manual. It won’t improve your fuel economy, but it can save you 10-20 cents per gallon.

Oil
Are you using the proper oil for your vehicle and getting it changed every 4000 miles or 4 months? You may not realize it but most city drivers are using their cars under “Severe Service” conditions. See your owner’s manual for details and use the recommended viscosity. Keeping your oil full and clean will reduce the friction inside your engine, and help with fuel economy and engine life!

Driving Habits and Planning
Keep your foot light on the gas. Using gradual acceleration may not be fun, but it will save you money. Same for braking, if you accelerate & then brake hard at the next light, you‘re wasting gas. Avoid extended idling, cars need 30 seconds to warm up. Plan your trips. Short trips, in stop and go traffic, are harder on your car’s engine than most other driving.

Preventive Maintenance Is The Key!
Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s maintenance schedule to save fuel costs and allow your car to operate more efficiently. Read your owner’s manual or visit Pride Auto Care for a full maintenance review. Your peace of mind and the savings can be significant!

A while ago my mom referred me to Pride because she knew and respected Al from the Cash group. Since then I’ve received great customer service during the several times I’ve been into the shop. However, I wanted to send a special thanks for the customer service I received when my car was at another shop. Yes, I know that’s unusual, but my car broke down away from home and your shops and I had to tow it to a totally unfamiliar shop. I received some, what I felt, odd information from that shop and called Pride for help. Darrell spent several minutes talking with me and ultimately said go ahead an give them the OK to run one hour of diagnostics on the car, if they can’t find it in that time something is wrong. Well that was great advice. The shop found the problem quickly and repaired it for a reasonable cost. I wanted to thank Darrell and Pride for helping to ease my mind in a very challenging situation. This certainly was way above and beyond customer service and I am grateful! I will always remember that and I’ll be referring Pride out whenever I’m asked. Thank you so much!

With two, long time successful full service tire and auto centers under our belt, why did the four Pridemore brothers decide to buy an existing Parker car care business and set up their third shop there? Simple… We love this area and wanted our next great car care location to be in our own backyards. WE were amazingly blessed to find the old Hometown store…it was just the right place for us.

The original owner was “hands off”, tired of the car care business and has wanted out for some time now. While the old Hometown crew recently had a decent technician or two in the fold, the store was understaffed, un-marketed and starting to get rundown. But, to their credit, the store crew had a pretty decent reputation for good service of late and were situated in a prime Parker location...right behind the Super Target in the Parker Valley retail complex.

Douglas County and Parker are one of the premier areas to live in in Colorado, heck in the whole country for that matter. It’s a clean, beautiful growing city that still embraces the country charm that makes it such an awesome place to live and rear a family.

Of the four brothers that makes up the Pride Auto Care ownership, two of us live near the store, one just “over the line” in Centennial and the other lives in Parker off Bayou Gulch Rd. WE are hands on owners. We work at the stores we operate and that makes a difference because it’s our friends, and neighbors, our extended “family” that have us work on their “pride and joy!” They trust us. They see us at school, at church, at grocery store, at the movies…these are our neighbors. We know they expect nothing but great, honest service and a fair price from us and that exactly what they’ve gotten for over 19 years now. We are now working on the second and third generation of drivers in many of the original families who’ve been our customer’s for almost 20 years.

We love people and love fixin’ cars. The new store in Parker is an exciting first for us as our original two stores were built new in 1989 when two of the four brothers were just manager and technician at the time. Then in 2001 we became minority owners in the operations and eventually bought the business outright in 2005. We’ve been looking to expand to a third store in the southeast corridor” since then and Parker is perfect. A great town with amazing people and a great country feel. What more could we ask for.
